Zte: If your phone has a microSD slot, you should be able to save MP3 files onto it and your phone should be able to recognize these files if it has a built-in music player that can read MP3 files. Some phones need the card to be formatted a certain way, so check with your carrier and/or manufacturer to make sure.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwan28wsleyghi: To my knowledge, the card doesn't need to be specially formatted for the RAZR phone. So, take the microSD card, put it in an appropriate card reader on your computer, and format it from there. It should work.

-- Contributed by: cristianShehzad: The password protection is there for a reason. It's so that unauthorized people cannot access the files. If you forgot your password, unfortunately, there may not be a way to recover your do...ents unless you have backup copies somewhere else.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanI have had problem with the SD card ever since I bought it. Some pictures it will not save even though it says it did. And when I place it in the adapter my camera nor my computer can read it.
-- Contributed by: MartyMy memory card has been locked by a password. I need it urgently and i have important folders on it, cant format it. I also made a backup of my phone and it is saved in the memory itself, so if i format it nothing will be left, all will be deleted, please help, if any way to get out of this problem, urgent!!!! Furthermore, when i put it in card reader, it does not recognised it because of this password.
-- Contributed by: ShehzadTracey: Try placing the memory card into a reader on your computer and see if your computer can still recognize the content inside. It's possible that your card may have been corrupted.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanI turned my phone off and removed the micro sd. When I put it back in and turned the phone on everything seems to be erased except for one picture. Have I lost everything or is something else wrong?
-- Contributed by: Traceymy memory card just started to slow down whenever it would load images, like i had a problem putting each one of all my cousins poser pics in my camera and all of a sudden the whole folder i was saving in the microsd deleted itself, and now itss taking up alot of space and slowing the load. >:@
-- Contributed by: marjorie perezThanks for the article; really useful. I bought a 2GB micro SD to boost my son's phone memory but they do not tell you HOW to use them!
-- Contributed by: Martin WMark: Check that the "write-protect" tab has not been flipped on the memory card itself. To format your card, you can put it in your computer, find it under My Computer, right-click, and choose format. Otherwise, you may be able to format the card in your cell phone. Check your user manual or manufacturer for details.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanSabrina: I don't really understand your problem. If you are able to put songs and pictures onto the phone via the computer, you should be able to see the memory card as an external drive on your computer. Opening this drive, you should be able to see all the files that it contains, including those that you saved from your phone. Are you sure the pictures and movies transferred to the memory card and not just to the phone's internal memory?

-- Contributed by: Mark BowenI have the Samsung Propel with this memory card, but I can't transfer my pictures and movies to my Toshiba laptop because they won't show up when the card pops up. I've looked all over the computer and card while on the computer to find the files, but they won't show up. Even though I've transferred my photos to the card in the phone, it still doesn't work... but I can put songs and pictures on the phone via. the computer... can someone please tell me how to take pictures from my phone and put them on the computer.
-- Contributed by: SabrinaBill Jumps: Assuming that you are in a Windows environment, have you tried looking for the memory card under "My Computer"? It will typically show up as an external drive, just like a USB flash drive would.

-- Contributed by: Bill JumpsVandana: The Motorola SLVR L7 is notorious for memory card compatibility issues. It does not appear to work with Kingston cards, for example, but it works find with SanDisk most of the time. To format your card, go through the cell phone's menu as follows: Menu - Settings - Phone Status - Storage Devices - Menu - Format.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwani have folled the steps as mentioned in the user manual to format a sd card but my phone fails to do so. i have a motorola SLVR L7 model phone.plese help me.
-- Contributed by: vandanaAndy: The most common issue with memory cards and cell phones is that the memory card has to be formatted a certain way. When I used a Verizon phone, for example, the memory card had to contain folders with very specific names for the different types of files. Music files were stored in My_Music, photos were stored in My_Pictures, and so on. Check with your user manual as to how to format your memory card. The phone may be able to do this automatically for you.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanMichele: For certain phones, this may not be possible. If you are using the memory card as a way to play music on your phone, it should be able to access these files directly from the memory card, assuming that it is formatted correctly.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanHello, i have an LG mobile and just bought a 4gb micro SD card for it, i didnt get a cord with the phone to connetect it to the computer, so i bought a card reader for the micro sd. I installled the cd and everthing and copied music to it but the phone just doesnt reconise it. thanks for your help..

-- Contributed by: micheleShane: There is no way to "expand" an SD card. It only has the capacity indicated on the card itself, whether it be 512MB, 1GB, or whatever. If you mean using an adapter, the microSD card can be inserted into an adapter that effectively transforms it into a full-sized SD card. The capacity remains the same, but now it can be read by a standard SD card reader.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanhow will i expand my SD Card,or what are the steps in expanding a micro sd card?
-- Contributed by: shaneAllie: There are two possible reasons why the memory card could be "seen" by your computer as read only. First, check to make sure that the write-protect switch is set to off on the memory card and/or the SD card adapter. Second, it may be software-based concern. Right click on the memory card in My Computer and see if the "read only" checkbox is ticked. Do the same for the folders within the memory card.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanAshley: Did you use the provided SD card adapter? Assuming that you use a Windows PC (I'm not as familiar with Mac), the memory card should show up as an external drive in My Computer, even if a window doesn't pop up indicating as such.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanHow do I transfer music from my computer to my sd card? I already have music stored on my card from my phone. Now I want to take music from my hard drive and send it to my sd card but it tells me that my card is read-only?
-- Contributed by: Alliei have just purchased a micro sd, and when i put it in the slot in my computer nothing happened , i am very disappointed , because these items are not cheep .
-- Contributed by: AshleyMohammad: If the card is corrupted, you can try reformatting it through your computer. Insert it into the card reader, find it under "My Computer", right-click on it and choose format. This process may or may not work, depending on the extent/nature of the damage/corruption.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanJalen: There are two possibilities. First, the card may not be properly formatted. For Verizon phones, for example, all music files have to placed in a single directory called My_Music. If you check the user manual of your phone, it should have instructions on what is needed to format the memory card. Usually it involves inserting a blank card into your phone and then maybe holding "OK" for five seconds. It varies from model to model. The other possibility is that either your phone or your provider is disabled for "external" music files. Check with your provider.

-- Contributed by: mohammad anees mohammadTeresa is right the same thing hapenned to me i put music on there and then put it in my phone and it dosnt show up or anything! whats up with that!
-- Contributed by: jalen bTeresa: What do you mean by it doesn't work? Provided that the USB card reader is "plug and play" for your operating system (Windows or Mac?), it should just show up as an external drive. I have a feeling that the microSD card could be faulty.
Vidya: The card may be corrupted or you may have the write-protect switch activated.
Asif: Certain brands have compatability issues with certain phones. In my experience, SanDisk has provided the best compatability.

It doesn´t work when I put it in my cell phone and neither does it work when I put the adapter with the card into the high speed usb. Is there a specific program that I should have? Thanks
-- Contributed by: TeresaTom: Try reading the memory card on your computer. If you are in Windows, you should be able to right-click on the memory card under "My Computer". Choose properties and make sure that "read only" is not checked. Also, if you are able to read and write data from your computer, this would mean that it's an issue with your phone and not the memory card.

i want to put music onto my micro sd stick and when i try to copy it onto the stick it says disk is write protected and i dont know how to change that.can u help me
-- Contributed by: tom martinRachel: Depending on the model of cell phone this might not be possible. Some cell phones force you to store all of your music files, for example, on a memory card rather than in the internal memory. For those that do allow this, there is usually some sort of file manager application on the phone. From there, you can select the file and one of the options should be to "copy to phone memory" or something similar.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanMichael: It's possible that your MP3 cell phone has a limit on the number of files it can handle on a single memory card. Some phones won't be able to read more than 100 songs on a single memory card.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanI have a microSD card for my cell phone with music on it, and the music plays fine on my phone, but i don't know how to transfer the songs from the card to my phone's memory?
-- Contributed by: RachelI have a micro sd card, and it's in my Mp3 player. I checked the capacity for both, and there should be room on it. However when I try to Put a song on the card, it says my player is full. I think the problem is it's not automatically transferring to the card, so if anyone can, please tell me how I can manually do so?
-- Contributed by: Michaelhow do i format the micro sd card its a 1 gb but it wouldnt let me do it
-- Contributed by: leeroy penaConnie: There could be an issue either with your microSD adapter (TransFlash) or with the USB adapter. The memory card itself may also have problems. The only way you can find out for certain is by process of elimination. If any of your friends have a spare microSD card, you can try swapping that and seeing if you have the same problem. If the pictures are storing through the phone without a problem, then I'd imagine that the issue more likely lies with one of your adapters.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanMy phone allows me to format it, store pics, etc on it. But when I insert it into my computer, it is unable to read the card. When I insert to my card into the computer the screen appear "Do you want to format it now?" And i click "yes." Then the screen appears "The disk cannot be formatted."...please help me to format it or describe why my cellphone can read it, but my computer cannot. I have tried using a transflask adapter and usb adapter. Thanks.
-- Contributed by: ConnieJenise: As Alex said, you may need to format your card first. This depends on the model of phone, because some cell phones will automatically format a card after it has been inserted in the correct slot, whereas others may need you to hold "OK" or access the "memory card format" feature through the menu. Check with your user manual.

All you have to do is put the card into your phone and then back into the computer so in knows the phones folders. then if you open the folder on the card called My-Music and copy the songs into this they will all be added into your my music library

-- Contributed by: jamesI had this problem yesterday with my Sandisk Micro SD Card. It would not work in my new Moto Q9m. I spent two hours on the phone with tech until they finally told me my card was prob defective. Well i fixed the problem, turns out if you format the card it has to be in FAT format. You can do this on your pc. Now my card works perfectly. NTSC format does not work.
-- Contributed by: JoeCharles: That is correct. Contact lists cannot be saved to your memory card. If you used a GSM-based provider (AT&T or T-Mobile, for example), you could back up your contact list to the SIM card, but this is not possible with CDMA providers (like Sprint), because CDMA phones do not use SIM cards. The alternative would be to get a smartphone that runs on Symbian, Linux, or Windows Mobile. These can be "synchronized" with your computer, including the calendar, tasks, and contacts.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanI just got a Sprint / Sanyo Katana DLX 8500 phone. This uses a 128 mb SD microcard. I got it for 2 main reasons.. to be able to take pictures to the card.. then either read them back to the phone.. or move them to my PC. And to back my phone contact list to the card.. and do the same thing. Turns out it will do that fine for pictures and media.. but for the phone contact list.. it will write to the card.. but the card cannot be read... either by the phone.. or by a PC !! Not only that... there is nothing in the instructions that say that!.. then I access the contact list in the phone file manager menui.. it only gives me the option to "import this file?" Yes, or No. then ..if I hit yes.. it actually puts another copy of the contact list back on the phone... I have 5 now. Then.. after 21/2 hrs on the phone with Sprint.. I finally get a tech rep woih blissfully tells me that "only media files can ber read off that card... because the phone saves the contact list files in an unreadable file format..(.vcf). What are they up to here ??? this is completely nuts !!!
-- Contributed by: Charles MatterAmanda: To load files on the microSD card, insert it into the adapter (to make it the same size as a standard SD card), and then insert the whole thing into your computer's card reader. It should show up as an external drive, much like a USB flash drive. Check under "My Computer" in the Start Menu (for Windows-based computers).
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanDarwin: Your memory card may be defective and/or corrupted. If your computer cannot format the card, then there's probably a problem with the memory card. I should also note that certain cell phones need their memory cards formatted a certain way and this must be done by the phone and not a computer. The LG enV is an example of this.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanI just bought a micro sd card, but I have no idea how to put music from my laptop in it. I have an adapter so it fits into my laptop, but the computer doesn't read it, and I can't put songs on... Am I doing something wrong?

-- Contributed by: darwinmidge: Formatting your microSD card will depend on the model of your cell phone. Check your instruction manual for more details. Some handsets require you to hold "ok" for five seconds, for example, whereas formatting is done through the on-screen menu on other phones. Formatting a card through Windows on your computer may not be enough, because certain handsets require a specific file folder structure.

-- Contributed by: micro sdI'm having trouble, everytime I try playing music from my cell phone, with the MICROSD memory card in it. It says something like "java.lang.nullPointerException: 0 Code 932-0"
then I take the memory card out, and slide it back in again, and the same disaster happens. What should I do?
-- Contributed by: AnthonyHow do I transfer music onto the memory card form the computer?
-- Contributed by: ClintCourtney: It depends on your cell phone, but there are a few commonalties among most phones that you may want to consider. First, some phones will not allow you to use ringtones that are currently stored on a memory card; they need to be transfered to the cell phone's internal memory before being used as a ringtone. Second, certain phones do not allow ringtones to be larger than a certain size, both in terms of length and in terms of file size. It is best to crop your MP3 file to a smaller size if you are going to use it as a ringtone. Taking these two factors into account, you should see your custom ringtone appear in the options where you set ringtones. One other thing you may want to keep in mind is that certain service providers -- Telus, Bell, and Verizon are well-known for this -- may restrict your use of custom ringtones. This forces you to buy new ringtones from them. Check with your mobile operator.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanhow do i make the music that i put on my memory card into ringtones?
-- Contributed by: CourtneyJoe: It should only take a few seconds to recognize the memory card. If it takes any more than that, you may need to format the card in a particular way. Double check with your user manual regarding memory expansion.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanTyler: You may not necessarily have an SD card reader on your computer. These can be cheaply purchased at most computer supply stores for less than $20.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanAshley: It is possible that the memory card has to be formatted a particular way to work with that cell phone. Refer to your user manual to see if there are any instructions for that matter. I suspect that all pictures have to be in a folder called "pictures" (or something like that), all music has to be in "music", and so on.

Also if i try to MOVE and existing photo in the phone to the card it says the "file size is too large". the instructions on the sd box says its already formatted, do i have to format it to my phone and if so, how?
-- Contributed by: AshleyJohn: Check my previous comment on instructions for opening the SD card's folder on your computer. Regarding getting a manual, you can usually find one on the manufacturer's website for free as a PDF file. If not, you can contact the manufacturer through their 1-800 number to request one.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanSarah: Assuming that you are using a Windows-based computer, the SD card should show up under "My Computer" as an external drive (similar to a CD-ROM or DVD drive). If the window does not pop up on its own, follow these steps to access your SD card.
1. Click on the Start Menu 2. Click on My Computer 3. In My Computer, there should be a "drive" that corresponds to your SD card. The icon should resemble a memory card.
Depending on your cell phone, you may need to place the compatible music files into a specific folder on the SD card in order for it to work. Check with your user manual.
-- Contributed by: MichaelKwanwhat if my Lexar MicroSD adapter and memory card that i purchased didnt come with a manual... is there any way i could get one from the internet? i want to put music on my cell phone but the folder isnt popping up when i slip the adapter in.
-- Contributed by: johni just purchased a Lexar MicroSD adapter card, and i put the memory card inside the adapter and put it in the SD slot if my computer, i want to put music on here to transfer it to my cell phone but i dont know how to bring up the SD folder thing. how do i do this?
-- Contributed by: SarahStephan: It would depend on your cell phone, but for most handsets, the memory card has to formatted correctly to work with each individual phone. The folder structure is different with each phone, so it is often best to refer to the user manual. After that, you can place the microSD card into a full-sized SD adapter, which in turn can go into an SD card reader on your computer. This should show up as an external drive, similar to a USB flash drive or external hard drive. From here, you just drag and drop into the appropriate folder. This is assuming that your phone has a built-in MP3 player to begin with.

-- Contributed by: stephanLiang: It should be noted that these are not microSD memory cards that Sandisk and Samsung are releasing. Although they have the same physical size, these new cards are actual microSDHC, following the same naming scheme as the larger SDHC cards used for camcorders and high-megapixel digital camcorders. These cards will likely not be compatible with most microSD-equipped cell phones on the market today, although they should be supported with certain handsets released in the future.
