my school doesnt allow cell phones in class, yet many students do anyways. Its disruptive and can be used innapropriately; I would know, Im 14

i agree with this i don't think we should have phones in school. it's just a major distraction. Kids/teens just make it so obvious that they are texting in class.

Kirsten, you are stupid. What would you do to entertain yourself? The point is to NOT text your friends. You find something else to do when you're done your work; the pros are not about cell phones being an entertainment device...

cell phones are 100 percent needed in school. but there should be limitatikons on when to use them. and should only be used when nessasary.

the illicit part, is partialy true but girls do take black mail pictures to like threatin others. it sucks but boys do take pictures they shouldnt.

i think that cellphones in school are necessary because incase of an emergency we can always call our parents also you could take notes, remember important dates with the calendar....... cellphones are necessary!!!!!!!!

the illicit picture part of the article makes me mad because girls could take a picture just as easily as a guy could so why does it have to say "boys will be boys"?

i thik that cell phones should be allowed.there are alot of pros like:

â€¢ Students can take pictures of class projects to e-mail or show to parents. Ordinarily, parents do not see projects that are completed in groups in school. â€¢ Students can text message missed assignments to classmates that are absent. A buddy system can be put into place. â€¢ Many cell phones are equipped with calculatorsâ€”plenty of new math curricula encourage the use of a calculator when problem-solving. A student should become accustomed to having a calculator handy for both homework and real life math applications. â€¢ If a student is slow to copy notes from the board, pictures can be taken of the missed notes and accessed later. Ditto sending notes to absent classmates. â€¢ Students can listen to music with ear buds if the cell phone is equipped with this option during independent studyâ€”many students find this relaxing and comfortable and are more productive as a result.

Cell phones are almost like clothes for children these days. Concidering the violence that occurs around schools i think it should be against the law not to have a cell phone
