What are the Potential Uses of the iPhone

From LoveToKnow Cellphones

With all the hype surrounding it, you may find yourself asking, "What are the potential uses of the iPhone, anyway?" The iPhone is fun, but it's practical. It may just do everything you want a phone to do and more. Read on to find out.

A Phone

With a phone that can do almost anything, it may be hard to remember sometimes that yes, you actually can talk on it like you could on those old-fashioned land lines and older, less cool cell phones.

You can also text on it, as you can on other cell phones.

Ringtones are more selective. You won't be able to get just any old ringtone, but you will still be able to choose from enough via the Apple website and AT&T. That's on top of the ones included on the phone when you purchase it. Still, though, you can show off your taste in music when people call you.

Listen to Tunes

One of the uses for an iPhone is listening to music. The phone is basically an iPod and a phone, so you can download music from iTunes and listen all you like. Enjoy your favorite playlists, search by artist, and more.

Watch Videos and Television

It's so easy to connect to YouTube to watch videos. If you need to learn how to do something, get a laugh, or watch what your peers are watching. You'll be reminded that silence is golden (or frustrating!) because you can't comment on them, though.

Did you miss your favorite show last night? No problem. Catch it in landscape view on your iPhone. One of the best uses for the iPhone is keeping you up to date when you don't have time to do so on the rest of the world's schedule. Hey, you may have to work at 9:00 PM on Thursday, but if you use public transportation to get to work, you can catch the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy on your Friday morning commute.

Catch Up on the News

Want to know what's happening in the world while you're out and about? No problem. The iPhone allows you to go online and search for news stories. This is a tool for keeping yourself entertained between classes, on public transportation, and more. You can wow your peers with your up to the minute knowledge on world affairs. Who doesn’t like to be the first one to spill a breaking story?

A Camera

Who wants to carry around a bag full of small electronic devices, to include a cell phone and a camera? There's no need to anymore. The iPhone has a 2.0 megapixel camera.

If you want to send your pictures, you will need to download an MMS application. One of the downfalls of the original iPhone is the inability to send pictures via text and email when you first purchase it..

Surf

Fun, play—just about whatever you do on the Internet, you can do on the iPhone. The beauty of the iPhone when it comes to being online is the touch screen that makes it incredibly easy to navigate. Look up whatever you need to know in a jiffy. This especially goes for the 3G iPhone; Apple boasts faster Internet speeds on it.

Also, who can forget the importance of checking email while you're out and about? You can do that too! It's as easy as tapping a button on the screen; your mail will open right up.

Organize Your Busy Life

With an iPhone, you can keep your appointments. Go into the calendar function and add in birthdays, appointments, obligations, your work schedule…the list goes on.

Find Your Way

The 3G iPhone, which will make its debut on July 11, 2008, will include a GPS. That means you won't have to worry about looking for maps through your web browser. Even if you do, the 3G's Internet will work faster, giving you the results you need while you run into a traffic jam.

If you have the original iPhone, you can go to Maps for an overview or for step-by-step driving directions. Either way, when you need gas or you're looking for the closest coffee shop to get you through the next leg of your trip, the map/GPS concept is invaluable.

What Are the Potential Uses of the iPhone: More

If you're still wondering aloud or in your head, "What are the potential uses of the iPhone?" you can go to your local AT&T store to check one out for yourself. Who knows what you may discover? Don't forget to check out the downloads that are available online for the iPhone; they will take it to a whole new level.

The best thing about my iphone is that I can check my email from anywhere... add that to having maps, web browser, my music and I'm a happy girl!
