From LoveToKnow Cellphones

LG Chocolate Phone accessories may be just as important as the delicious slider phone itself. Cell phone accessories are a big market, because people not only need to add functionality to their cell phone, but they also want to personalize the look.

If you're a Verizon Wireless subscriber and want to stick out from the crowd just a bit (and make for a more enjoyable cell phone experience along the way), then this article is definitely up your alley. If you've got other variations of the lovely LG Chocolate Phones, you should definitely take a gander too.

This delectable cell phone may already boast a whole lot of functionality out of the box, including the ability to take pictures with its 1.3 megapixel camera and blast out tunes with its integrated media player, but there are a bevy of accessories out there that will certainly add to the Chocolate experience in a meaningful way.

Function Comes First

In terms of "useful" accessories, here are some of the most readily available add-ons and replacement items you can find for the LG Chocolate Phone, particularly the VX8500 offered through Verizon Wireless and Telus Mobility.

  • Extended life battery: That glossy black (or frost white) mobile phone isn't going to do you much good if it's turned off all the time. Make sure that you have plenty of power to keep you in touch and entertained with an extra battery pack. These can be picked up from a number of retailers, such as Amazon.com.
  • Car phone holder: While on the road, it is best to keep both hands on the wheel. In fact, in some states, it's mandatory. While having a Bluetooth headset goes a long way, sometimes you still want to know who's calling. By having a clearly visible car phone holder in place (many either attach to the dash with double-sided tape or to an air vent with a clip), you can have a much easier time glancing at your Chocolate phone.
  • Cell phone cases and holsters: Keep your phone protected. There are protective cases available that essentially replace the exterior housing of your phone, as well as holsters where you can keep your handset when it's not in use. The former serve as cosmetic upgrades as well as functional ones as you really get to customize the Chocolate phone's look to your liking.

Designed with Multimedia in Mind

The LG Chocolate is a musicphone, after all, so why not use it to its fullest?

  • microSD memory card: If you're rocking the Verizon or Telus versions of the Chocolate phone, you can very happily expand your handset's memory with a microSD memory card. These are currently available in capacities as high as 2.0GB, giving you plenty of space to store all your MP3s and pictures. Personally, I'd stick to the name brands -- SanDisk, Lexar, etc. -- though getting the "high-speed" variants isn't really necessary.
  • Audio adapters: In order to connect your handset to standard stereo systems and the like, you will probably need an audio adapter. These are similar in form as cables you'd find that convert a stereo mini plug into RCA audio cables.
  • Speaker docks: One of the most popular accessories for the Apple iPod is the speaker dock. There are literally oodles of them out there in all shapes, sizes, and price ranges. The same can be said about musicphones. There is one particular model that you may be interested in. Available through Verizon Wireless is the LG MSP-100 ultra portable stereo speakers. This set is shaped like a flip phone and produces decent sound quality.
  • Bluetooth headsets: When it comes to keeping your hands free while chatting on your cell phone (or even listening to music), you have many options, the best of which is a Bluetooth headset. Available in mono (one ear) and stereo (two ear) varieties, Bluetooth headsets are sold by a number of different manufactures: you don't need an LG headset to work with your LG phone. There are also wired solutions which are much more economical.

No List is Complete

Of course, this list of accessories is my no means complete. Check out your local (and online) retailers for more fun (and functional) accessories.

i had my phone since christmas and i have not read the book yet but i already know it inside out

Read the book! I can not express that enough. I have had mine for 8 months and know it inside and out and love it!!! Anyone that asks to borrow it hates it because it is not user friendly with strangers. Read, read, read. Memory card is a must have. It plays music well, sometimes when I'm in the house alone cleaning, I tuck it in my shirt and play it aloud. Fun phone.

Jackie: It depends on what your needs and wants are with this phone. In terms of essentials, I'd look into getting a protective case of some kind, a car charger if you drive a lot, and a memory card if your version of the Chocolate Phone supports it. A Bluetooth headset would be a good idea as well.
