The popularity spikes during, and after, every major release. The most significant spike was during the second release. Why It's Cool to Ring to High School Musical
High School Musical is most popular among so-called "tweens". These are kids aged 9 to 14 who are much too cool for Barney, but also still too young for MTV. A 2005 Washington Post article reports that 55 percent of teens have wireless phones, and a quarter of kids 12 and under have cell phones. The same report noted that Walt Disney announced a deal with Sprint to target 8 to 12 year-olds for wireless service. So, it is not very surprising that High School Musical ringtones are popular, especially among this particular age group.
Where to Download the Ringtones
Since more teens and preteens own cellphones today than ever before, the demand for ringtones of all types are in hot demand. Ringtones typically cost between $1.50 to $3.00, but most teens like to change ringtones often. This is why teens will typically download multiple ringtones at the same time.
