Add Images to iPhone
From LoveToKnow Cellphones
Many people are already using their smartphones for a variety of different purposes, but you may be having some trouble figuring out how to add images to an iPhone. Thankfully, there are many different options you can consider if you want to send new pictures over to your favorite Apple touchscreen device.
Pictures Are Worth a Thousand Words
Why would you want to add images to the iPhone? As you may already know, it is possible to use custom background images (also known as cell phone wallpapers) on the Apple iPhone. This helps to customize your device as you see fit, giving it a spark of your personality and truly making the handset as unique as you are.
Further still, images that are stored in the internal memory can be used for things like picture caller ID. This means that when someone calls you, you can actually see a photo of them rather than just a name and a number. This can be great for quick recognition of incoming callers.
Lastly, thanks to the very large display, the iPhone can also be used as a digital picture viewer, acting like a portable photo album of sorts. Want to share vacation pictures with your friends without having to print them out? Want to show off photos of the new family pet without having to bring companions over to your computer? The iPhone can do that.
How to Add Images to an iPhone
When trying to add images to an expandable memory cell phone, one of the easiest methods is to eject the memory card and put it on a card reader on your computer. This makes the memory card show up in the same way that a USB flash drive would, allowing you to drag and drop content into your custom folders.
Unfortunately, this technique cannot be use to add images to iPhone. That's because the iPhone only has internal memory and does not have an expandable memory card slot. On the bright side, the iPhone can be purchased with as much as 32 gigabytes of internal storage, providing plenty of room for family photos and more.
How can you get those picture files onto the iPhone's internal memory? Three equally accessible tactics are described below.
Connecting via iTunes
When the iPhone is connected to a computer via a standard USB cable, iTunes usually launches automatically. If it doesn't, you can launch the program yourself. From there, the iPhone will show up in the same way that an iPod will show up. There may be an area to save images through this interface. Otherwise, the iPhone can also show up as an external drive on your computer and pictures can be saved in the appropriate folder through that interface instead.
Using Email and MMS
Even though most people will use mobile email on a cell phone for messages comprised largely of text, the iPhone Mail program can also handle attachments. If you only have a small number of images to transfer, you can effectively send yourself an email with the images as attachments. From there, the pictures can viewed or saved.
Saving from the Internet
The iPhone may be known as a phone, but it is also a full-featured multimedia device. This also includes the ability to access and surf full websites, as well as more mobile-friendly versions like Facebook for iPhone. When you see any image in a webpage that you would like to see, like those you may have saved to your Flickr account, you can hold your finger over this message and a dialog window will pop up. One of the options in this pop up will be to save the image.
More iPhone Photos, Movies, and Music
From listening to Internet radio to playing some interesting touchscreen games, you can have a lot of fun with your Apple iPhone. Even though the device lacks an external memory card slot, it is still very possible to add images to the iPhone. These pictures can be used as wallpapers, caller ID images, or just as part of a digital photo album.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. With the iPhone, you can literally store thousands of pictures. How many words is that?
